Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery

After arriving at Da Nang airport we went straight to Hoi An where we spent a couple of nights with the luxury Hotel Royal Hoi An. This hotel is one of Accor’s MGallery properties which is a collection of beautiful boutique hotels around the world. There are only a few choices when it comes to larger hotels in Hoi An, thanks to it being a UNESCO Site, and Hotel Royal Hoi An is one of them.

Disclaimer: Our time at Hotel Royal Hoi An was sponsored but all words and comments in this post are our own.

Location

Hotel Royal Hoi An is located right on the outskirts of Hoi An Ancient Town which makes it an incredibly convenient location to be based in the city. It took us under 10 minutes walk to reach the Japanese Covered Bridge (one of the city’s famous landmarks) which also happens to be the central hub of activity. Nearby you’ll find plenty of dining options as well as entertainment and other landmarks. In summary, this is where you’ll spend the majority of your time in Hoi An so it was lovely knowing our hotel was never really too far away.

Interior and rooms

Grand Deluxe Kind Room

As a boutique hotel, we expected something a little different from Hotel Royal Hoi An and we’re happy to say it lived up and exceeded our expectations. The interior is really beautiful, dare we say the most impressive out of all the hotels we stayed in Vietnam. You can find traces of both Indochina and Japanese influences in its design as both cultures played pivotal roles in Hoi An’s development as a trading port city when merchants settled in the area.

For our two-nights, we stayed in their Grand Deluxe King Room found in their newer Wakaku Wing. Rooms here are bright and airy, adorning a mostly neutral colour palette with bold accents of blue and turquoise. There is a real sense of luxury when you step into this room yet nothing felt too over the top. Hotel Royal Hoi An has done a fantastic job of walking the tightrope between luxury yet retaining a unique character expected from a boutique hotel.

The Grand Deluxe rooms have additional space and wrought-iron balconies over the Deluxe rooms, ours overlooked the Thu Bon River which flows further into Ancient Town.

Facilities and services

The hotel has two pools guests can take advantage of, one is located on the ground floor while the second is on the rooftop of the newer wing where you’ll also find their pool-side bar The Deck Hoi An.

If the humidity of Hoi An is getting to you, head one floor down from their rooftop for drinks at The Attic. They also hold movie nights here which is a great way to chill out with drinks and meet other guests.

Hotel Royal Hoi An has two restaurants on the property grounds: FaifoCafe and Wakaku. FaifoCafe serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner with international and Vietnamese dishes. Wakaku is only open for dinner service but offers up delicious Japanese cuisine including sushi and yakitori.

Bicycles are also available to all guests, just head to the front desk and they’ll provide the complimentary rental for the day – cycling around Hoi An is a great way to see the city.

Summary

This hotel’s stunning interior left a great impression on us and really set the bar high for future accommodations to match the level of luxury and beauty.

But of course, staying at a hotel is more than just being inside it. Hotel Royal Hoi An’s location allows easy access to almost every spot you’re going to want to visit when in Hoi An and they provide bicycles to make getting around just that much easier.

If you’re looking for a larger hotel with an international reputation and 5-star service, then Hotel Royal Hoi An is our best recommendation for you.
