Location

Perfectly situated on Tachibana-dori, Miyazaki’s main street, the hotel is less than a 10-12 minute walk from Miyazaki Station. Its position makes exploring a breeze – whether strolling to local restaurants, browsing shops, or venturing further afield to nearby coastal spots. At night, the area comes alive with bars and izakayas, meaning there’s plenty to enjoy right on the doorstep.

Property and Room

It’s no secret that Japanese hotels are renowned for their outstanding service, but even by those high standards, the staff at Hotel JAL City Miyazaki truly stood out. From the moment we arrived, their warmth and attentiveness made us feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. What impressed us most was their wealth of local knowledge – not only did they point us towards some top tier dining spots, but their suggestion to visit Aoshima turned out to be the highlight of our stay in Miyazaki.

We stayed for 3 nights in the smartly renovated junior suite. The room offered ample space for us to unpack, relax and was well-equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable visit: a kettle, fridge, air purifier/humidifier, trouser press, and complimentary toiletries, snacks and green tea.

Facilities and Restaurants

Bernerd is the hotel’s sole restaurant but it makes a strong statement and proves that quality far outweighs quantity. We enjoyed breakfast, the afternoon tea set at lunchtime, as well as the dinner set, and were blown away by all the dishes we tried. Miyazaki is well known for its local produce thanks to the abundance of fertile plains and sunshine and this shines through in each of the dishes we tried at Bernerd.

The menu regularly changes depending on the season, but a staple to look out for is the table-side dessert cart that circulates during breakfast.
