Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower

Things We Love

  • Stunning views from room and French restaurant Ciel Azur
  • Central location
  • Generously sized rooms

Location

Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower is ideally situated just a 10-minute stroll from JR Oita Station, making it a perfect base if you’re visiting the city. The central location means you’re never far from the action: most of Oita’s main shopping and entertainment districts are within walking distance, including Cent Porta Chuomachi, a lively covered shopping street lined with restaurants, cafes, and boutiques that stretches all the way to the station. When we arrived at Oita train station it was raining hard so the covered streets were much appreciated. In the evenings, the surrounding area comes alive with izakayas and bars, so you can enjoy a taste of the city’s nightlife without venturing far. The hotel’s position also makes day trips easy, with Beppu’s hot springs and the natural beauty of Yufu within easy reach by train.

Property and Room

You can’t miss the hotel – simply look for the tallest building in Oita. Standing at 101 metres above ground, Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower stands proudly among the Oita skyline and from higher floors offers unparalleled views out across Beppu Bay, Oita City, and the distant Yufu Mountain range. We spent a couple of evenings retiring to our room early to watch the sun set behind the mountains – a quiet, memorable way to end the day. Our room was generously sized and well-equipped with all the essentials: a fridge, kettle and air purifier. The interiors feel warm and comforting but still very refined – something we’ve come to expect from the Nikko hotel brand.

Facilities and Restaurants

Breakfast at SERENA was a relaxed affair, with an impressive buffet spread offering both Japanese and Western options. From freshly baked bread to local Oita delicacies, there was plenty of choice to suit any appetite. For something more upscale, Ciel Azur on the 21st floor serves refined French cuisine with sweeping panoramic views – a memorable dining experience that’s perfect for special occasions – we got engaged on this trip so it was a very fitting experience. We had a second visit to Ciel Azur for lunch where we enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea with delightful seasonal sweets and treats. The hotel also offers a third dining option at Orizuru for traditional Japanese meals.

Summary

Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower offers a refined yet welcoming stay in the heart of Oita. With spacious, well-maintained rooms, a range of on-site dining options, and some of the best views in the city, it’s a hotel that balances convenience with comfort. Whether you’re here on business, planning day trips to nearby hot spring towns, or simply soaking in the city atmosphere, Hotel Nikko Oita Oasis Tower provides an easy, dependable, and memorable base.
